Luis Iban did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Dadá Martinez 10 minutes into the match. In the 15th minute, Anibal Chayo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Los once leones fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Erubiel Gaitan hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After 22 minutes Bahía é Carnaval's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Cleto Txerran who took care of the corner kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Bahía é Carnaval's goalie and right to Cleto Txerran. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Bahía é Carnaval's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Luis Iban in the 24thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dadá Martinez, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The referee ignored Los once leones's protests and gave Cleto Txerran a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Bahía é Carnaval booed when Los once leones was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cleto Txerran didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luis Iban's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dadá Martinez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 48th minute of play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luis Iban stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Bahía é Carnaval's Marciano Ferran got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 54th minute Marciano Ferran shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dadá Martinez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luis Iban in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dadá Martinez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Desiderio Silvino charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Desiderio Silvino the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Los once leones getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Desiderio Silvino hit a great ball. Dadá Martinez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Iban, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leopoldo Ibar during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dadá Martinez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Iban, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luis Iban in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dadá Martinez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Luis Iban put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Dadá Martinez. After a rather tough play, Bahía é Carnaval's Vinicio Florin got a free kick in the 84th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Desiderio Silvino in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mickael Wuyts saved Bahía é Carnaval from getting behind. When Cleto Txerran was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 86 minutes had been played. In the 87th minute, Cleto Txerran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Los once leones's Dadá Martinez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vinicio Florin in the 87th minute of play. Los once leones's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
