The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Anversa Club's goal looked a bit too open when Dan Rüdy came free, but Waut Van Der Meeren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sport Club Abrilense's Loris Karius proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 8th minute of the match, managed to save Sport Club Abrilense from getting a goal against them. Anversa Club's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Arnoud Rouvoet in the 13th minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Joe Van Landschoot heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 15 minutes into the match, Sport Club Abrilense's goal looked a bit too open when Nestor Cruz came free, but Loris Karius reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sport Club Abrilense's Loris Karius proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Sport Club Abrilense from getting a goal against them. Severino Bruggink spun around in front of the goal 23 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Anversa Club's goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Severino Bruggink in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Waut Van Der Meeren saved Anversa Club from getting behind. Waut Van Der Meeren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dan Rüdy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Sport Club Abrilense's Manole Ciocârlan fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Waut Van Der Meeren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dan Rüdy in the 32nd minute of play. In the 43rd minute, Dan Rüdy made a precise shot to the right of Waut Van Der Meeren. Anversa Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Winarto Songgonau in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Loris Karius prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cléber Catarinense stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 56 minutes into the game, Anversa Club's Nicu Vornicu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Loris Karius made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Loris Karius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Winarto Songgonau in the 60th minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, Anversa Club's goal looked a bit too open when Dan Rüdy came free, but Waut Van Der Meeren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Loris Karius came out of the goal in the 66th minute to try and stop a shot by Anversa Club's Nicu Vornicu. But to his dismay, Nicu Vornicu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Anversa Club's Dominik Hollants was substituted for Mickael De Winter. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reiner Fallas in the 71st minute of play forced Sport Club Abrilense's goalkeeper Loris Karius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 73rd minute, Reiner Fallas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 79th minute German Estevez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waut Van Der Meeren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Sport Club Abrilense booed when Anversa Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jesús De la Torre didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Anversa Club fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. Anversa Club's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
