The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aristide Ciuvică in the 7th minute of play forced Club Olimpia's goalkeeper Alfredo Aguilar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nelson Haedo kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. In the 10th minute of the match Diego Ribas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alfredo Aguilar skillfully saved the ball. Alfredo Aguilar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aristide Ciuvică, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alfredo Aguilar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aristide Ciuvică's shot from short distance in the 12th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Aristide Ciuvică in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alfredo Aguilar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Nelson Haedo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Olimpia's supporters rose to their feet, but Nelson Haedo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jailson Aparecido breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 18 minutes into the match, Club Olimpia's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Zonta came free, but Alfredo Aguilar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute Aristide Ciuvică shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Aguilar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredo Aguilar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aristide Ciuvică, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Club Olimpia made a substitution. Edmund Lidberg replaced Rickard Soned. After a defensive mix-up in México Eterno MZC's zone, Nelson Haedo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jailson Aparecido came out of the goal and Nelson Haedo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfredo Zonta got free with Alfredo Aguilar in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 62nd minute of the match Club Olimpia got a corner. México Eterno MZC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Denis Inestrosa ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Olimpia's goalkeeper Alfredo Aguilar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 66th minute, Di Yang Lei hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 67 minutes, Aristide Ciuvică managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. México Eterno MZC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aristide Ciuvică was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Nelson Haedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Club Olimpia's Alfredo Aguilar got control of the ball when Aristide Ciuvică tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jailson Aparecido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nelson Haedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Alfredo Aguilar made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aristide Ciuvică in the 89th minute. Nelson Haedo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jailson Aparecido read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. After a rather tough play, México Eterno MZC's Arsene Van Mechelen got a free kick in the 97th minute. México Eterno MZC's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Club Olimpia had won, even though México Eterno MZC had held more of the ball.
