The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 12th play minute Ken Brogren came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Jorge Campos. 2-0. Vassilis Katsanikas hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. 18 minutes into the game, Rafael Dantas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Luc Van Hinnendael was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shen Sang Hao in the 25th minute of play forced Goiânia FC's goalkeeper Jorge Campos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Shen Sang Hao could shoot a difficult shot in the 28th minute, which Jorge Campos however easily saved by the left post. In the 30th minute, Rafael Dantas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Goiânia FC's Jorge Campos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Goiânia FC from getting a goal against them. Lasse Kroner hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dedê Fernandez during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Goiânia FC's Dedê Fernandez got a free kick in the 42nd minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Shen Sang Hao made a kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Wilian Cordeiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Goiânia FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Bruges the free kick. A collision led to Goiânia FC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Wilian Cordeiro hit a great ball. Rafael Dantas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rafael Dantas charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rafael Dantas the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shen Shi Mo in the 62nd minute of play forced Goiânia FC's goalkeeper Jorge Campos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 66th minute, Gernando Matos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jorge Campos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philip Verhasselt in the 67th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Celsinho Sabóia could shoot a difficult shot in the 70th minute, which Luc Van Hinnendael however easily saved by the left post. Jorge Campos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Antonio Eggers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Goiânia FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Celsinho Sabóia hit a great ball. Shen Shi Mo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Campos having to interfere. Jorge Campos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Shen Sang Hao in the 77th minute of the match. Jorge Campos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shen Sang Hao, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Goiânia FC's Jorge Campos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ken Brogren in the 89th minute of play. Ken Brogren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorge Campos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shen Shi Mo, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. After some careless play in the Goiânia FC defense, Shen Sang Hao kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jorge Campos. The Goiânia FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jorge Campos should have stopped the shot.
