The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ascacibar-Pérez's Einar Holmberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Linus Stenqvist in the 13th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 19 minutes, Einar Holmberg successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Tallboda Gunners's goalkeeper Frans Billström, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ascacibar-Pérez's Einar Holmberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save Ascacibar-Pérez from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Linus Stenqvist managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tallboda Gunners's supporters rose to their feet, but Linus Stenqvist was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Einar Holmberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Frans Billström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martín Palermo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Linus Stenqvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Linus Stenqvist's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Einar Holmberg read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Linus Stenqvist to strike the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Tallboda Gunners's zone, Erasmo Clis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Frans Billström came out of the goal and Erasmo Clis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tallboda Gunners's Linus Stenqvist got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Ascacibar-Pérez getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Miguel Montrel hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Linus Stenqvist in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Einar Holmberg saved Ascacibar-Pérez from getting behind. Tallboda Gunners's Linus Stenqvist managed to work through Ascacibar-Pérez's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Linus Stenqvist dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 67 minutes into the match, Tallboda Gunners's goalkeeper Frans Billström had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Martín Palermo. Linus Stenqvist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Einar Holmberg having to interfere. Ascacibar-Pérez's Einar Holmberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Ekrot in the 74th minute of play. Einar Holmberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Ekrot's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. Einar Holmberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Ekrot in the 81st minute of play. Tallboda Gunners's Frans Billström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Martín Palermo in the 85th minute of play. After some careless play in the Ascacibar-Pérez defense, Tomas Ekrot kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Einar Holmberg. The Ascacibar-Pérez fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Einar Holmberg should have stopped the shot. Ascacibar-Pérez's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
