The audience thought a goal was coming when Rubén Martínez got free with Cãlin Damaschin in the 15th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Román Olmedo in the 16th minute of play forced Colo-Colo's goalkeeper Eladio Escalona to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Patrício Yáñez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cãlin Damaschin having to interfere. Cãlin Damaschin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rubén Martínez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Rubén Martínez took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Cãlin Damaschin to make any attempt to save it. Eladio Escalona showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Román Olmedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. A collision led to CERRO PORTEÑO getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Edgar Kensicki hit a great ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Eladio Escalona showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moreno Martins in the 51st minute of the match. José Julio Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Cãlin Damaschin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. CERRO PORTEÑO's 任棋振 was substituted for Moreno Martins. The audience was convinced that Rubén Martínez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cãlin Damaschin was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. Colo-Colo's Eladio Escalona played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis in the 83rd minute of play. Andres-Sebastian Kanchelskis could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 86th minute of the match, but Eladio Escalona made a huge save. Cãlin Damaschin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlitos Caszely in the 91st minute of the match. In the 96th minute Rubén Martínez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cãlin Damaschin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
