Geoffrey Dutton kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. The supporters of Athletico Picapedrense booed when FC Politehnica Timisoara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Timmy Deckbergh didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jesus Sayveon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Håvard Bjørke, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Athletico Picapedrense's Jesus Sayveon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Håvard Bjørke in the 17th minute of play. FC Politehnica Timisoara were awarded a corner in the 36th minute after Athletico Picapedrense's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Olimpiu Rizea took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Athletico Picapedrense's goalie and right to Fan Wen Nan. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Athletico Picapedrense's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 41st minute, Lorenzo Jubera hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hristo Stoichkov made a kick off. Isac Hojbota made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hristo Stoichkov in the 51st minute. After a rather tough play, FC Politehnica Timisoara's Elias Abad got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Isac Hojbota made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hristo Stoichkov in the 72nd minute of play. Athletico Picapedrense were awarded a corner in the 83th minute after FC Politehnica Timisoara's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Juanito Gabucio took the corner. Athletico Picapedrense's Jesus Sayveon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernest Manea in the 84th minute of play. A collision led to Athletico Picapedrense getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Lorenzo Jubera hit a great ball. Jesus Sayveon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olimpiu Rizea in the 89th minute of play. Jesus Sayveon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olimpiu Rizea, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
