Ilkka Markkula was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but 于震树 showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 9 minute of play. Wawrzyniec Walicki showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raimundo Tupper in the 12th minute of the match. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Esbjerg fB's goalkeeper Wawrzyniec Walicki, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Edström in the 16th minute of play forced Esbjerg fB's goalkeeper Wawrzyniec Walicki to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wawrzyniec Walicki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raimundo Tupper, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Esbjerg fB's Wawrzyniec Walicki played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Podador Raheiro in the 19th minute of play. 蔡强天 lost his temper 21 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 蔡强天 hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Marcus Edström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wawrzyniec Walicki having to interfere. The supporters of Club Deportes Santa Cruz booed when Esbjerg fB was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. 于震树 didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wawrzyniec Walicki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Podador Raheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 32nd minute Podador Raheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wawrzyniec Walicki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's goal looked a bit too open when Olof Allov came free, but Ilkka Markkula reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Podador Raheiro got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Wawrzyniec Walicki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raimundo Tupper, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Max Rambov's late challenge caught a Club Deportes Santa Cruz's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Max Rambov helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Esbjerg fB fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 47th minute. Penalty! The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Podador Raheiro was the one to do the kick off. Servet Turabi charged in rather forcefully in the 55th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Servet Turabi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Servet Turabi hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. 56 minutes into the match, Esbjerg fB's goalkeeper Wawrzyniec Walicki had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Raimundo Tupper. The audience thought a goal was coming when Podador Raheiro got free with Wawrzyniec Walicki in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 61 minutes into the match, Esbjerg fB's goal looked a bit too open when Marcus Edström came free, but Wawrzyniec Walicki reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 62 minutes into the game, Silvio Navia recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Wawrzyniec Walicki. Silvio Navia showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Trayko Gradinarski was substituted for Podador Raheiro. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Yan Zhi Chuan in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wawrzyniec Walicki saved Esbjerg fB from getting behind. Ilkka Markkula made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 于震树 in the 72nd minute of play. Esbjerg fB's Wawrzyniec Walicki proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Esbjerg fB from getting a goal against them. Severin Torbell hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Qu Zheng Song took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 77th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Wawrzyniec Walicki. Esbjerg fB's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Yan Zhi Chuan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wawrzyniec Walicki having to interfere. If Yan Zhi Chuan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Esbjerg fB's Wawrzyniec Walicki got control of the ball when Yan Zhi Chuan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Esbjerg fB's Wawrzyniec Walicki proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Esbjerg fB from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Yan Zhi Chuan in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wawrzyniec Walicki prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Thanks to some nice moves Raimundo Tupper could shoot a difficult shot in the 90th minute, which Wawrzyniec Walicki however easily saved by the left post. Olof Allov kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. After 92nd play minutes Yan Zhi Chuan shot 1-2, a short shot which went by Wawrzyniec Walicki and just under the crossbar into goal. Yan Zhi Chuan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Wawrzyniec Walicki tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Esbjerg fB getting a freekick after 97 minutes play. Walentin Venther hit a great ball. 98 minutes into the match, Esbjerg fB's goalkeeper Wawrzyniec Walicki had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Yan Zhi Chuan. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Club Deportes Santa Cruz walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
