C A U's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Manly FC the free kick. In the 24th minute Mo Salah shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Feliberto Gonsalvo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manly FC's Andrew Robertson managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Candido Firmo in the 28 minute of the game. Mo Salah took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Feliberto Gonsalvo. Feliberto Gonsalvo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Manly FC's Ray Clemence played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeo De La Cruz in the 41st minute of play. The supporters of C A U booed when Manly FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andrew Robertson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Manly FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mo Salah was the one to do the kick off. The throw-in from Candido Firmo in the 51st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Manly FC's Andrew Robertson. C A U's Feliberto Gonsalvo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save C A U from getting a goal against them. C A U's Ceferino Hever was substituted for Leopoldo Senin.
