With a little luck, San Lorenzo de Mar del's Leonides Medardo got control of the ball when Thanos Sapalidis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Roman Rollins showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Akamas Farmakis in the 35th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Boca Juniors defense, Akamas Farmakis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Roman Rollins. The Boca Juniors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roman Rollins should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domingo Olando in the 38th minute of play forced Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Roman Rollins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 39th minute of the game. One of Boca Juniors:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of San Lorenzo de Mar del:s goal. Domingo Olando might have been able to make a better finish in the 46th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Roman Rollins. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Domingo Olando ran back to his position shaking his head.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tyrone Marrero stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. San Lorenzo de Mar del's Leonides Medardo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Seyfettin Haseki in the 56th minute of play. In the 56thth minute of the game Seyfettin Haseki who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but San Lorenzo de Mar del's Leonides Medardo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Saturnino Gilabert got free with Roman Rollins in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. San Lorenzo de Mar del's Saturnino Gilabert was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Roman Rollins in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.
