Mayo's Alexander Bird played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sava Chuchev in the 5th minute of play. Thomas Sørensen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuel Farmer, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. In the 13th minute Samuel Farmer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Sørensen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 14th minute, Alfredo Miliano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Through an outstanding action, after 15 minutes, Alexander Bird successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. FC Grivata's Eero Grönholm got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Mayo's Alexander Bird got control of the ball when Eero Grönholm tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eero Grönholm got free with Alexander Bird in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thomas Sørensen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from William Symons, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 29 played minutes FC Grivata got a freekick which was hit by Tzvetoslav Serdev. In the 30th minute, Alex Burton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mayo's Alexander Bird proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Mayo from getting a goal against them. If Samuel Farmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 42nd match minute, FC Grivata was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Milcho Zhalov to maneuver through the defense. 45 minutes into the match, FC Grivata's goal looked a bit too open when Samuel Farmer came free, but Thomas Sørensen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Burton in the 49th minute of play forced FC Grivata's goalkeeper Thomas Sørensen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alexander Bird made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Øyvind Skoglund in the 56th minute of play. After 59 played minutes Mayo got a freekick which was hit by Evelio Goren. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Rayko Tzonkin managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Grivata's supporters rose to their feet, but Rayko Tzonkin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexander Bird breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nathanial Pitts made a great header on Mayo's corner, it was just that FC Grivata's Thomas Sørensen managed to reach the ball for a save. Alexander Bird stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Øyvind Skoglund's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Mayo players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
