With a little luck, El Pinar's Ni Tian Peng got control of the ball when Eero Grönholm tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 15th minute Estebano Lecanda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Sørensen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Radowit Ogrodowicz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ni Tian Peng having to interfere. 23 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Grivata's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fredrik Holden was slow to take the kick. During this time El Pinar's players had a chance to rest. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Mantzio Mena put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Thomas Sørensen. After the first half El Pinar were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Estebano Lecanda to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Süreyya Uzer in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thomas Sørensen saved FC Grivata from getting behind.
