Svetomir Maier's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thomas Sørensen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. Thomas Sørensen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Øyvind Skoglund scored 0-1 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Lütfü Öktemer, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lütfü Öktemer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eero Grönholm in the 26th minute of the match. In the 39th play minute Claudiu Răducanu came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Thomas Sørensen. 1-1. With a little luck, FC Grivata's Thomas Sørensen got control of the ball when Claudiu Răducanu tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Dacian Zburliş had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Radowit Ogrodowicz made a kick off. MARAZZINO's Ball Pitt quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Brian Laudrup, made in the 57th minute of the game. Claudiu Răducanu might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Thomas Sørensen. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Claudiu Răducanu ran back to his position shaking his head. Lütfü Öktemer made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Tzvetoslav Serdev sent off a good shot on target. Tzvetoslav Serdev received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Lütfü Öktemer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brian Laudrup got a throw-in 72 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Tzvetoslav Serdev. Øyvind Skoglund sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 80th minute, Ball Pitt made a precise shot to the right of Thomas Sørensen. FC Grivata's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Claudiu Răducanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Claudiu Răducanu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Thomas Sørensen having to make a save. Thomas Sørensen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudiu Răducanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. 89 minutes into the match, Claudiu Răducanu notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of FC Grivata's Thomas Sørensen. Thomas Sørensen was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. FC Grivata's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
