The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 5 minutes, Anoush Khalatbari managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. American Airlines's supporters crossed their fingers, but Anoush Khalatbari was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Darnell Metcalf hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anoush Khalatbari in the 9th minute of play forced SalentoUnited's goalkeeper Bunda Grande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Darnell Metcalf charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Darnell Metcalf the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 19 played minutes American Airlines got a freekick which was hit by Darnell Metcalf. Frasier Huber could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Arvin Hökkvist made a huge save. 24 minutes into the match, SalentoUnited's goal looked a bit too open when Bennvar Nobel came free, but Bunda Grande reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, American Airlines's Adrian Trevino got a free kick in the 26th minute. Arvin Hökkvist made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edgar Meier in the 29th minute. Frasier Huber scored 1-0 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Arvin Hökkvist, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

SalentoUnited's Ergincan Suerkan was substituted for Fox Aiello. Edwin 雷震南 hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. SalentoUnited's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 62 minutes into the game, Darnell Metcalf cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Bunda Grande was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. SalentoUnited made a substitution. John Helgason replaced Edgar Meier. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bunda Grande prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bunda Grande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Anoush Khalatbari, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched American Airlines eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
