An unexpectedly hard shot by Friedrich Hölderlin in the 13th minute of play forced The Lions's goalkeeper Evert Mellberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 18 minutes into the match, The Lions's goal looked a bit too open when Friedrich Hölderlin came free, but Evert Mellberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Peter Esterházy in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Evert Mellberg saved The Lions from getting behind. Stig-Ove Gustafsson hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Gert Carlsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Stig-Ove Gustafsson charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stig-Ove Gustafsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 44th minute, Stig-Ove Gustafsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 44 played minutes, Ulfa FSV's Hans Rosenthal shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Evert Mellberg came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ulfa FSV reached it. Cosmo Abegg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gert Carlsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute.

Cosmo Abegg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gert Carlsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Friedrich Hölderlin couldn't finish the play. In the 81st minute, Ulfa FSV's Felix Umbach dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-4. With an all-out effort, Ulfa FSV's Evert Mellberg threw himself towards the right post 87 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Felix Umbach, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Peter Esterházys short, quick shot in the 89thth minute got Evert Mellberg to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Ulfa FSV eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
