The audience thought a goal was coming when Severiano Nel got free with Jarbas Guedes in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Inácio Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Inacio F.C.'s goalkeeper João Oliveira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. João Oliveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Inácio Figueiredo, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 40th match minute, S S Palestra Italia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Roano to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gwidon Babicki in the 41st minute of play forced S S Palestra Italia's goalkeeper Jarbas Guedes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half S S Palestra Italia were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 94th minute, Inacio F.C.'s Quique Otamendi seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Quique Otamendi the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Inacio F.C. protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Quique Otamendi had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After some careless play in the Inacio F.C. defense, Inácio Figueiredo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Oliveira. The Inacio F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Oliveira should have stopped the shot.
