In the 3rd minute Remy Van Eyken shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciriaco Hernando saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 7th minute of the match Conrad Vrolijcx sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ciriaco Hernando skillfully saved the ball. Vänge IF's Ciriaco Hernando played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Remy Van Eyken in the 11th minute of play. Remy Van Eyken took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ciriaco Hernando. Ciriaco Hernando dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. The supporters of Haithabu FC booed when Vänge IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnold Stark didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kurt Slaghmeulders might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ciriaco Hernando. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kurt Slaghmeulders ran back to his position shaking his head. Vänge IF's Ciriaco Hernando played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kurt Slaghmeulders in the 23rd minute of play. With a little luck, Haithabu FC's Fabian Söderström got control of the ball when Schorsch Schmalzbauer tried to sneak it across the goal line. Remy Van Eyken's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ciriaco Hernando read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. 30 minutes had been played when some careless play by Vänge IF's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Conrad Vrolijcx was slow to take the kick. During this time Haithabu FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Conrad Vrolijcx almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Vänge IF's Ciriaco Hernando did a great save. Ciriaco Hernando showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Remy Van Eyken in the 32nd minute of the match. Ciriaco Hernando took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kurt Slaghmeulders, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mauro Otsoa to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Remy Van Eyken cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Ciriaco Hernando was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd rose to their feet as Haithabu FC's Remy Van Eyken slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ciriaco Hernando. That made the score 0-3 after 56 minutes of play. In the 58th minute, Arnold Stark hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ciriaco Hernando made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rigoberto Piearres in the 94th minute of play. The supporters of Haithabu FC booed when Vänge IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Giordani didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Haithabu FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Haithabu FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
