The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Isaias Matas got free with Tao Cheng Zhi in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Isaias Matas struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Tao Cheng Zhi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olavarria FC. Michel Hendrickx made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramon Ignatius in the 17th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Vasile Pisculescu in the 21st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Michel Hendrickx prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 22 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Vasile Pisculescu sped through Olavarria FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Michel Hendrickx. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Isaias Matas in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tao Cheng Zhi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Isaias Matas kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tao Cheng Zhi. That made the score 2-1 in the 32 minute of play. Olavarria FC's Michel Hendrickx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ramon Ignatius in the 35th minute of play. 41 minutes had been played when some careless play by El ultimo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Mauro Kotlar was slow to take the kick. During this time Olavarria FC's players had a chance to rest. Isaias Matas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Tao Cheng Zhi made a huge save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Isaias Matas to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, El ultimo's Carlos Alberto Sabóia got a free kick in the 92nd minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Olavarria FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while El ultimo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
