The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Inácio Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. Fokke Meijeringh showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olivar Ribeiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Jeremie Van Nel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ferdi Vorenkamp, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. C.F Intercity's Jeremie Van Nel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ferdi Vorenkamp in the 15th minute of play. If Inácio Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olivar Ribeiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fokke Meijeringh. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Olivar Ribeiro ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, De Kasteelheren's Fokke Meijeringh got control of the ball when Olivar Ribeiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 29th minute, Harold Rodenboog made a precise shot to the right of Jeremie Van Nel. C.F Intercity's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Inácio Amaral in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jeremie Van Nel saved C.F Intercity from getting behind. Jeremie Van Nel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Inácio Amaral in the 35th minute of the match. Fokke Meijeringh made an important save on a dangerous shot by Olivar Ribeiro in the 37th minute. In the 46th minute Olivar Ribeiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fokke Meijeringh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. De Kasteelheren's Fokke Meijeringh proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save De Kasteelheren from getting a goal against them.

After 52 played minutes De Kasteelheren got a freekick which was hit by Eric Martinsson. C.F Intercity's Jeremie Van Nel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ferdi Vorenkamp in the 54th minute of play. C.F Intercity were furious when Fridtjof Dramstad was red carded, 79 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 79th minute, one of C.F Intercity:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for C.F Intercity. In the 81st minute of the game, De Kasteelheren got a penalty. The shot went straight in by the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Olivar Ribeiro in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fokke Meijeringh saved De Kasteelheren from getting behind. After some careless play in the De Kasteelheren defense, Luis Zamora kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fokke Meijeringh. The De Kasteelheren fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fokke Meijeringh should have stopped the shot. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. De Kasteelheren walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
