İbrahim Volkan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Birger Påk read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 10th minute of play. The supporters of Esmeraldas S.C. booed when Stream Sponsoren was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niklas Söderberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Birger Påk made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Martinez Cines sent off a good shot on target. After 17 minutes of play, Esmeraldas S.C.'s İbrahim Volkan made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Birger Påk was left in no man's land by his defense there! 21 minutes into the match, Simon Britz notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Esmeraldas S.C.'s Aguinaga Nebot. Aguinaga Nebot was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Aguinaga Nebot showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Simon Britz in the 26th minute of the match. 31 minutes into the match, Esmeraldas S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Sven-Arne Klemensson came free, but Aguinaga Nebot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Stream Sponsoren booed when Esmeraldas S.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marc Pringle didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by İbrahim Volkan in the 48th minute of play forced Stream Sponsoren's goalkeeper Birger Påk to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 63rd minute Esmeraldas S.C. were awarded a corner. Niki Borda went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Esmeraldas S.C.'s Niki Borda to fire away a dangerous shot which Birger Påk despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 65 minutes into the match, Esmeraldas S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Simon Britz came free, but Aguinaga Nebot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. İbrahim Volkan scored 2-1 in the 67th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Birger Påk, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
