Medero Gadea scored 1-1 in the 10th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Naci Şehzat, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Olympique Fribourg's goalkeeper Patrick Knechtli, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Olympique Fribourg's defense didn't have a chance, in the 18th minute, when Fedele Scirea scored to the left of an out of position Patrick Knechtli, making the score, 2-1. Demirhan Yalap hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. After 33 minutes Olympique Fribourg's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. Patrick Knechtli didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 37th minute, which inside left pole to 3-1. Naci Şehzat made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raik Topuz in the 59th minute of play. Patrick Knechtli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fedele Scirea in the 64th minute of the match. Olympique Fribourg's Olaf Hager was substituted for Daniel Schroeder. Téo Savion could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 75th minute of the match, but Naci Şehzat made a huge save. Patrick Knechtli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fedele Scirea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olympique Fribourg's Patrick Knechtli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fedele Scirea in the 89th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Téo Savion got free with Naci Şehzat in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
