Through an outstanding action, after 7 minutes, Bayan Bonzon successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 8th minute Primitivo Grau shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bayan Bonzon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Kyoto Sanga F.C.'s Bayan Bonzon got control of the ball when Zhao Sen Yang tried to sneak it across the goal line. 9 minutes into the match, Zhao Sen Yang dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Bayan Bonzon, 1-0. Kyoto Sanga F.C.'s Bayan Bonzon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Kyoto Sanga F.C. from getting a goal against them. In the 13thth minute of the game Zhao Sen Yang who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Kyoto Sanga F.C.'s Bayan Bonzon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 16 minutes Kyoto Sanga F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Olov Ahlbeck who took care of the corner kick. Bayan Bonzon made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Zhao Sen Yang sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Kyoto Sanga F.C.'s Bayan Bonzon got control of the ball when Zhao Sen Yang tried to sneak it across the goal line. Diki Doro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Clarence Pumaren's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. When İlhami Akyazıcı came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that İlhami Akyazıcı couldn't finish the play. Zhao Sen Yang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bayan Bonzon having to interfere. After 31 played minutes Kyoto Sanga F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Jaime Pangalanan. Thanks to some nice moves Zhao Sen Yang could shoot a difficult shot in the 32nd minute, which Bayan Bonzon however easily saved by the left post. After 34 minutes Kyoto Sanga F.C.'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Olov Ahlbeck who took care of the corner kick. Primitivo Grau was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Zhao Sen Yang's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bayan Bonzon read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Kyoto Sanga F.C.'s Bayan Bonzon proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Kyoto Sanga F.C. from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- booed when Kyoto Sanga F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaime Pangalanan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Zhao Sen Yang came free with the goalkeeper in the 43rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Bayan Bonzon could save by the left post. Diki Doro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicholas Macasa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zhao Sen Yang stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bayan Bonzon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zhao Sen Yang in the 53rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Kyoto Sanga F.C. defense, Zhao Sen Yang kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bayan Bonzon. The Kyoto Sanga F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bayan Bonzon should have stopped the shot. In a very dangerous position, a player in Kyoto Sanga F.C. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 60th minute. Penalty! After a long run with the ball, Olov Ahlbeck did a trick in the 61st minute in front of Kyoto Sanga F.C.'s goalkeeper, who threw himself to the side. After that it was simple to shoot 4-1. After a rather tough play, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Ricardo Jenaro got a free kick in the 96th minute. Diki Doro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Archie Balabagan, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. In the 98th match minute, Kyoto Sanga F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henriqua Tucay to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- had won after a very even match.
