When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Youri Borderie put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Ovidiu Adrian. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tiger De Hond in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mikael Damm saved U.S.Normande from getting behind. Poli Timisoara were awarded a corner in the 54th minute after U.S.Normande's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Horst-Peter Unterberger took the corner. Mikael Damm took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiger De Hond, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
