Joel Strömberg's late challenge caught a SSC Napoli's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joel Strömberg helped the player get up and apologised. Joel Strömberg hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. After having played for 6 minutes, Merrill Pryor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aston Villa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Merrill Pryor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Merrill Pryor who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 9thth minute tested the skills of Sakarias Bocklund when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jens-Erik Andreasson in the 11th minute of play forced Aston Villa FC's goalkeeper Filiph Hägg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Filiph Hägg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Clark Reuterwall in the 13th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Merrill Pryor took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Sakarias Bocklund to make any attempt to save it. After 23 minutes, Jonas Forsberg mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Aston Villa FC and the SSC Napoli players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 23 played minutes Aston Villa FC got a freekick which was hit by Jonas Forsberg. Filiph Hägg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clark Reuterwall, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. Sakarias Bocklund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isaac Kalfhage, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. In the 29th minute Clark Reuterwall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filiph Hägg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 33 minutes into the match, Aston Villa FC's goal looked a bit too open when Preben Kaagaard came free, but Filiph Hägg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jens-Erik Andreasson made a kick off. Aston Villa FC's Isaac Kalfhage got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Walter Lindholm kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Nils-Åke Gunnarsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sakarias Bocklund read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Filiph Hägg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jens-Erik Andreasson in the 58th minute. Sakarias Bocklund showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nils-Åke Gunnarsson in the 61st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Merrill Pryor in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sakarias Bocklund prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Merrill Pryor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sakarias Bocklund having to interfere. Clark Reuterwall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Filiph Hägg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aston Villa FC's Merrill Pryor got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sakarias Bocklund didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Merrill Pryor went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Herbert Kristiansson took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sakarias Bocklund. Sakarias Bocklund dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Sakarias Bocklund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herbert Kristiansson in the 83rd minute of play. Preben Kaagaard could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Filiph Hägg made a huge save. Walter Lindholm hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. When Nils-Åke Gunnarsson came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Aston Villa FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nils-Åke Gunnarsson couldn't finish the play. In the 95th match minute, SSC Napoli was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walter Lindholm to maneuver through the defense. When the referee ended the match the Aston Villa FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
