The audience was convinced that Franco Di Santo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Faustino Ofelio was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Atilano Blanco in the 33rd minute of play forced Herrier's goalkeeper Faustino Ofelio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Franco Di Santo came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Racing Comunicaciones fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Franco Di Santo couldn't finish the play. In the 39th minute, Franco Di Santo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Faustino Ofelio was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Laureano Belasko stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Severiano Bide's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. In the 47th match minute, Racing Comunicaciones was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ingvar Linqvist to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Severiano Bide managed to get in a good position for a shot. Herrier's supporters rose to their feet, but Severiano Bide was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Laureano Belasko breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Herrier players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Racing Comunicaciones were winning 1-2.
