In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind C.A.Independiente's goalkeeper Severo Bonifaco, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Severo Bonifaco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilfred Vrede, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Wilfred Vrede received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Severo Bonifaco came out and tried to block the shot, but Wilfred Vrede slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 17th minute. Belchior Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alpheios Arvanitoyannis in the 20th minute of play. La Gallardeta's Belchior Saldanha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cleto Argider in the 22nd minute of play. If Jan-Olof Eliasson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jan-Olof Eliasson's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Severo Bonifaco firmly grabbed it by the left post. With a little luck, C.A.Independiente's Severo Bonifaco got control of the ball when Jan-Olof Eliasson tried to sneak it across the goal line. 33 minutes into the match, La Gallardeta's goal looked a bit too open when Alpheios Arvanitoyannis came free, but Belchior Saldanha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Belchior Saldanha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cleto Argider, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 59 minutes into the match, La Gallardeta's goalkeeper Belchior Saldanha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adolfo Sidro. After 67 minutes, Alessio Scandella mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La Gallardeta and the C.A.Independiente players grew even worse after the yellow card. Alessio Scandella kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. La Gallardeta made a substitution. Clemente Anaya replaced Wilfred Vrede. Godfredo Valentine missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 69 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Belchior Saldanha right hand side. Jan-Olof Eliasson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jan-Olof Eliasson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Severo Bonifaco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. In the 76th minute Clemente Anaya shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Severo Bonifaco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 82nd minute Adolfo Sidro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Belchior Saldanha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Severo Bonifaco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Clemente Anaya in the 87th minute of the match. 90 minutes into the match, C.A.Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Jan-Olof Eliasson came free, but Severo Bonifaco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 92 played minutes C.A.Independiente got a freekick which was hit by Godfredo Valentine. Bragan McPhil took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 95th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Severo Bonifaco. C.A.Independiente's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, La Gallardeta could leave the field as winners, despite C.A.Independiente having more of the ball for most of the match.
