The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Fågelmara IK booed when 1909 Tarnovia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jakub Gondela didn't get a good kick on the ball. 19 minutes into the match, 1909 Tarnovia's goal looked a bit too open when Adrian Ekelund came free, but Victor Curea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olov Lilja made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Prosper Vandamme in the 22nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Grzegorz Barniszke got free with Olov Lilja in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 29th minute the ball was on its way in behind Fågelmara IK's goalkeeper Olov Lilja, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 37 played minutes Fågelmara IK got a freekick which was hit by Lars-Erik Esbjörnsson. Olov Lilja made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Jerzy Grocholski sent off a good shot on target. In the 42nd minute Aleksander Sjö shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Victor Curea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 44 minutes into the game, Karol Pisarcik was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. 1909 Tarnovia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fågelmara IK the free kick. Despite this Olov Lilja quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 1909 Tarnovia's Zdzislaw Biraga got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 71 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fågelmara IK's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. The audience was convinced that Prosper Vandamme's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olov Lilja was relentless in the 75th minute of the game.
