Luís Paulo Paraíba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maicon Arruda, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Arí Silva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 18th minute, Guilherme Donatello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gerson Alves hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind America FC's goalkeeper Gildo Furtado, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maicon Arruda in the 22nd minute of play forced Real Cruzeiro FC's goalkeeper Luís Paulo Paraíba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vivaldo Carmona might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gildo Furtado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vivaldo Carmona stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Arí Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Paulo Paraíba having to interfere. Gildo Furtado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baltazar Zonta in the 60th minute of the match. Maicon Arruda could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Luís Paulo Paraíba made a huge save. When Yuri Lopez fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored America FC's protests and gave Yuri Lopez a yellow card for diving instead. In the 69th match minute, America FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maicon Arruda to maneuver through the defense. Gildo Furtado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Baltazar Zonta in the 70th minute of the match. 76 minutes into the match, America FC's goal looked a bit too open when Baltazar Zonta came free, but Gildo Furtado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th minute Baltazar Zonta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gildo Furtado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. America FC's Gildo Furtado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelson de Lima in the 83rd minute of play. Guilherme Donatello's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Luís Paulo Paraíba firmly grabbed it by the left post. Guilherme Donatello kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Real Cruzeiro FC's zone, Yuri Lopez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Paulo Paraíba came out of the goal and Yuri Lopez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arí Silva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luís Paulo Paraíba having to interfere. America FC played a much better game than Real Cruzeiro FC and deserved their victory. The Real Cruzeiro FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
