When the match clock showed 6 minutes, the score became 0-1 when John Wiberg sped through Vasco FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Franklin Bittencourt. Franklin Bittencourt took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Martin Odén, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Roland Lindström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moise Zgrăbunţa in the 19th minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Vasco FC's goal looked a bit too open when Martin Odén came free, but Franklin Bittencourt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 36 played minutes Juoksengi got a freekick which was hit by Martin Odén. In the 40th minute John Wiberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franklin Bittencourt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Juoksengi's Lennart Gunnarsson got a free kick in the 40th minute. After 42 played minutes Juoksengi got a freekick which was hit by Eskil Gustafsson. Steve Yzerman's late challenge caught a Vasco FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Steve Yzerman helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Vasco FC booed when Juoksengi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Steve Yzerman didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Alim Akkaya made a kick off. Alim Akkaya fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roland Lindström having to interfere. Alim Akkaya took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roland Lindström. Roland Lindström dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 59th minute Alim Akkaya shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roland Lindström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Juoksengi getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Esbjörn Söder hit a great ball. Roland Lindström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alim Akkaya went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. After 74 played minutes Juoksengi got a freekick which was hit by Martin Odén. In the 75th match minute, Juoksengi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bertil Fanström to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 79 minutes, Martin Odén managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Juoksengi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin Odén was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 82 played minutes Juoksengi got a freekick which was hit by Lennart Gunnarsson. Moise Zgrăbunţa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 84th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Roland Lindström. Juoksengi's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Roland Lindström showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alim Akkaya, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. John Wiberg struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Franklin Bittencourt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Juoksengi. John Wiberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Franklin Bittencourt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When John Wiberg fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Juoksengi's protests and gave John Wiberg a yellow card for diving instead. John Wiberg kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match.
