After 9 minutes, Gernando Cearense mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Until Five and the Florida Gulf Coast players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 9th match minute, Until Five was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gernando Cearense to maneuver through the defense. 12 minutes into the match, Lukáš Katačić notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Until Five's Jardel de Carvalho. Jardel de Carvalho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luis Nardo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carlos Saúl Recalde in the 14th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Until Five's zone, Lukáš Katačić stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jardel de Carvalho came out of the goal and Lukáš Katačić tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Oséas Recife came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Until Five fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Oséas Recife couldn't finish the play. Until Five's Jardel de Carvalho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lukáš Katačić in the 21st minute of play. Jardel de Carvalho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lukáš Katačić in the 24th minute. Lukáš Katačić sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cafu Passos made in the 38th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Carlos Saúl Recalde. Oséas Recife's late challenge caught a Florida Gulf Coast's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Oséas Recife helped the player get up and apologised. After 43 played minutes Until Five got a freekick which was hit by Oséas Recife. If Lukáš Katačić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Saúl Recalde to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Oséas Recife got free with Luis Nardo in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 56 minutes had been played when some careless play by Florida Gulf Coast's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Celsinho Soares was slow to take the kick. During this time Until Five's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Until Five's corner Celsinho Soares fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Luis Nardo quite easily take care of the ball. Lukáš Katačić sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Santos Piearres hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. 95 minutes into the game, Álvaro Dante was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Until Five's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Florida Gulf Coast the free kick. Florida Gulf Coast's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
