In the 7th minute of the match, Sven Granberg tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Edgard de Almeida saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Franco Di Massa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão Medeiros, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper Edgard de Almeida had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sven Granberg. André Luís Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Franco Di Massa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Paulão Medeiros put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Franco Di Massa. Edgard de Almeida showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Eduardo Xavier in the 18th minute of the match. When Montesclarense E.C.'s Paulão Medeiros in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 30th match minute, Montesclarense E.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mazinho Barral to maneuver through the defense. In the 31st minute Thor Ståhlberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Bergandy's Thor Ståhlberg in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The wind increased when Luiz Eduardo Xavier made the kick off in the second half. Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven Granberg in the 54th minute of play. Edgard de Almeida came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Bergandy's Sven Granberg. But to his dismay, Sven Granberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 58th minute Sven Granberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edgard de Almeida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Franco Di Massa made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Mazinho Barral sent off a good shot on target. Paulão Medeiros's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 61stth minute, Franco Di Massa skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 63 minutes had been played when some careless play by Bergandy's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ernani Tavares was slow to take the kick. During this time Montesclarense E.C.'s players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Montesclarense E.C.'s corner Paulão Medeiros fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Franco Di Massa quite easily take care of the ball. 65 minutes into the match, Bergandy's goalkeeper Franco Di Massa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulão Medeiros. Bergandy made a substitution. Daniel Koch replaced Thor Ståhlberg. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sven Granberg in the 85th minute of play forced Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper Edgard de Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 87 minutes of play, Bergandy's Daniel Koch made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Edgard de Almeida was left in no man's land by his defense there! Edgard de Almeida didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ingvar Molander went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Paulão Medeiros struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Franco Di Massa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montesclarense E.C.. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Bergandy fans cheered their team off the field, for while Montesclarense E.C. had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
