After 12 played minutes Sportivo Desamparados got a freekick which was hit by Alonzo Rito. Bergandy's Luiz Eduardo Xavier got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Sportivo Desamparados booed when Bergandy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sven Granberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute, Jörgen Valrot hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Thor Ståhlberg in the 19th minute of play forced Sportivo Desamparados's goalkeeper Gianluca Augusto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Sportivo Desamparados's Gianluca Augusto got control of the ball when Luiz Eduardo Xavier tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 59th minute, Thor Ståhlberg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gianluca Augusto was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 64th minute, Sven Granberg made a precise shot to the right of Gianluca Augusto. Sportivo Desamparados's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Gianluca Augusto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yngve Ferm in the 66th minute of the match. Gianluca Augusto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sven Granberg went, in the 68th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Bergandy were awarded a corner in the 97th minute after Sportivo Desamparados's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Sven Granberg took the corner. The corner led Bergandy's Sven Granberg to fire away a dangerous shot which Gianluca Augusto despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When the referee ended the match the Bergandy players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
