Botafogo AP were furious when Zé Roberto Paiva was red carded, 47 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of Botafogo AP:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Donzela de Ferro FBPA:s goal. After 48 minutes of play, Donzela de Ferro FBPA's Henrique de Lima made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. José Pedro Bertassi was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
