Matthias Bern might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hansjörg Wastl. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Matthias Bern ran back to his position shaking his head. 47 minutes into the game, Pontus Ström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. G A I S's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ the free kick. Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's Henrique Borges was substituted for Norberto Prata. A collision led to G A I S getting a freekick after 49 minutes play. Pontus Ström hit a great ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
