Helmuth Duckadam showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabian Czeszejko in the 34th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Olimpia HSB's Nikola Mirotić got a free kick in the 34th minute. Emilian Marina took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 36th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Vladan Kovačević. Olimpia HSB's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After some careless play in the FC Ruscova defense, Fabian Czeszejko kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Helmuth Duckadam. The FC Ruscova fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Helmuth Duckadam should have stopped the shot. Fabian Czeszejko took the ball and in the 43 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Helmuth Duckadam. Helmuth Duckadam dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. FC Ruscova's Helmuth Duckadam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabian Czeszejko in the 46th minute of play. When the match clock showed 47 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Fabian Czeszejko sped through FC Ruscova's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Helmuth Duckadam. After the first half Olimpia HSB were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Çetin Kantürk stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, FC Ruscova's goal looked a bit too open when Wilfredo Vellito came free, but Helmuth Duckadam reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, FC Ruscova's Helmuth Duckadam got control of the ball when Fabian Czeszejko tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 67 minutes, Fernando Morientes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Olimpia HSB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernando Morientes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Aurel Trifan made in the 69th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Olimpia HSB's Calito Izquierdoz. In the 69th minute, Olimpia HSB's Fabian Czeszejko dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-7. Fabian Czeszejko's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Helmuth Duckadam read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. In the 89th minute, Fernando Morientes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Helmuth Duckadam was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-8. 92 minutes into the match, Olimpia HSB's Jacek Pietrowiak sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Helmuth Duckadam narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pablo Mark kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, FC Ruscova's goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jacek Pietrowiak. Olimpia HSB's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fernando Morientes in the 95th minute. Fernando Morientes made a great header on Olimpia HSB's corner, it was just that FC Ruscova's Helmuth Duckadam managed to reach the ball for a save. A collision led to FC Ruscova getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Marco Verratti hit a great ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Olimpia HSB had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
