The audience thought a goal was coming when Augusto Bevilacqua got free with Şenol Güneş in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Through an outstanding action, after 46 minutes, Şenol Güneş successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 47th minute, SPALLETTE RETURNS's Achille Tullio ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Şenol Güneş. Şenol Güneş yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and 汪常然 made a kick off. Augusto Bevilacqua fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Şenol Güneş having to interfere. After having played for 54 minutes, Achille Tullio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Şenol Güneş showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antonio Nero in the 91st minute of the match. In the 93rd minute, Cosimo Laudadio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Şenol Güneş was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. Şenol Güneş showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cosimo Laudadio, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Şenol Güneş took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cosimo Laudadio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
