An unexpectedly hard shot by Zacarias Darien in the 9th minute of play forced Sport Guild Atlantis's goalkeeper Válter Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 10th minute, Mourad Amirouche hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sven-Arne Berglund's late challenge caught a Sport Guild Atlantis's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After some careless play in the Aro FC defense, André Messias kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Harry Higuita. The Aro FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Harry Higuita should have stopped the shot.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for André Messias to strike the kick off in the second half. Válter Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zacarias Darien in the 51st minute of play. Mourad Amirouche sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Errikos Tsagaris could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Válter Peixoto made a huge save. Errikos Tsagaris made a great header on Aro FC's corner, it was just that Sport Guild Atlantis's Válter Peixoto managed to reach the ball for a save. Errikos Tsagaris received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Válter Peixoto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
