Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 柯默渊 in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Åke Stål prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 40th minute, Luizão Massa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by 柯默渊 in the 43rd minute of play forced Hartlepool's goalkeeper Åke Stål to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Queluzito's Valério Donatello played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charlie Jansson in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Hartlepool were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The supporters of Hartlepool booed when Queluzito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clóvis Quirino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valério Donatello showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charlie Jansson in the 67th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hasan Hüseyin Orak in the 70th minute of play forced Queluzito's goalkeeper Valério Donatello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fidel Florian made in the 75th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Dagoberto Sabóia immediately put the ball in play. A collision led to Hartlepool getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Bosse Blond hit a great ball.
