In the 14th minute Jorginho Salles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Caetano Monteiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A hard shot by Gilberto Escalona from long distance, 15 minutes into the match, got Caetano Monteiro's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Caetano Monteiro was a little too slow when Wiliam Lozano got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 18th minute. The score was now 3-0. In the 28th minute, Jorginho Salles made a precise shot to the right of Caetano Monteiro. Icoara Football Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. When Wiliam Lozano came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Flamengo de San Blás fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wiliam Lozano couldn't finish the play. Jorginho Salles might have been able to make a better finish in the 32nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Caetano Monteiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jorginho Salles ran back to his position shaking his head. Caetano Monteiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wiliam Lozano in the 33rd minute. Icoara Football Club's Caetano Monteiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorginho Salles in the 35th minute of play. With a little luck, Icoara Football Club's Caetano Monteiro got control of the ball when Tolek Hoffman tried to sneak it across the goal line. Caetano Monteiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Steinar Stålhandske, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After 46 played minutes Icoara Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Genílson de Queirós. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ernesto Baiano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Hermes Centella made a precise shot to the right of Caetano Monteiro. Icoara Football Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 6-0. Steinar Stålhandske hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. 56 minutes into the game, Steinar Stålhandske cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-0. Caetano Monteiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Flamengo de San Blás's Jorginho Salles got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Caetano Monteiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tolek Hoffman in the 61st minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Jorginho Salles managed to get in a good position for a shot. Flamengo de San Blás's supporters rose to their feet, but Jorginho Salles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Caetano Monteiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 66 played minutes Icoara Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Thiago Zonta. In the 68th minute, Steinar Stålhandske made a precise shot to the right of Caetano Monteiro. Icoara Football Club's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 8-0. Jorginho Salles took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Caetano Monteiro. Caetano Monteiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 9-0. After 80 played minutes Icoara Football Club got a freekick which was hit by Thiago Zonta. Wiliam Lozano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caetano Monteiro having to interfere. Walmir Carvalho hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Tolek Hoffman scored 10-0 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Caetano Monteiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Wiliam Lozano's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Caetano Monteiro was relentless in the 91st minute of the game. After some careless play in the Icoara Football Club defense, Wiliam Lozano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Caetano Monteiro. The Icoara Football Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Caetano Monteiro should have stopped the shot.
