Lawrence Faillas short, quick shot in the 4thth minute got Marc-Aurèle Charret to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Lawrence Failla kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. Toufik Lamboley struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Evan Lia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Saint-Louis FC. After having played for 13 minutes, Kurt Vella managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balzan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kurt Vella was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 15th match minute, Balzan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nathan Lauri to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Toufik Lamboley managed to get in a good position for a shot. Saint-Louis FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Toufik Lamboley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Evan Lia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Evan Lia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Toufik Lamboley went, in the 18th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 21st minute, Lawrence Failla left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Balzan fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. In the 32nd minute, Balzan's Kurt Vella dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. The supporters of Saint-Louis FC booed when Balzan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nathan Lauri didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toufik Lamboley in the 36th minute of play forced Balzan's goalkeeper Evan Lia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute Toufik Lamboley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evan Lia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Lawrence Failla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Toufik Lamboley to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Toufik Lamboley's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Evan Lia was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. Vincent Morgand kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Balzan's zone, Félicien Le Parc stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Evan Lia came out of the goal and Félicien Le Parc tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zach Apap during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Balzan getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Zach Apap hit a great ball. Saint-Louis FC's Toufik Lamboley got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 66th minute Lawrence Failla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marc-Aurèle Charret saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 67th minute, Nathan Lauri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 70th minute, Toufik Lamboley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Balzan's defense didn't have a chance, in the 71st minute, when Félicien Le Parc scored to the left of an out of position Evan Lia, making the score, 2-3. Balzan's Evan Lia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Balzan from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Saint-Louis FC booed when Balzan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nathan Lauri didn't get a good kick on the ball. Félicien Le Parc could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Evan Lia made a huge save. Kurt Vella struck a weak shot in the 86th minute. Saint-Louis FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Félicien Le Parc was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lawrence Failla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Saint-Louis FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
