The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Douglas Cardoso's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Carlos Dracena was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. Carlos Dracena came out of the goal and Adriano Abraão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Douglas Cardoso struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Carlos Dracena didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Avantchê. In the 11th minute, Avantchê's Adriano Abraão dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Douglas Cardoso scored 2-0 in the 13th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carlos Dracena, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Reinaldo Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22nd minute Douglas Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Dracena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adriano Abraão succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 3-0 in the 24th playminute. A collision led to Guarani MZC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Joaquín Piquerez hit a great ball. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 38 minutes into the game, Avantchê's Douglas Cardoso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlos Dracena made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. 41 minutes into the game, Adriano Abraão cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Carlos Dracena was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Avantchê's zone, Inácio Teles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fausto do Valle came out of the goal and Inácio Teles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adriano Abraão stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Joaquín Piquerez hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. 56 minutes into the match, Guarani MZC's goal looked a bit too open when José Vítor Medeiros came free, but Carlos Dracena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carlos Dracena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Vítor Medeiros in the 58th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Douglas Cardoso in the 60th minute of play forced Guarani MZC's goalkeeper Carlos Dracena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
