Alberto Malheiro made in the 22nd minute of the game a quick throw-in and Zigmantas Gimbutas immediately put the ball in play. In the 27th minute, Valdomiro Lira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, SC Braga's André Jordão got a free kick in the 30th minute. In the 31st minute of the match Afonso Barreto shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Antonio Adán showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Leandro Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Quintino Carvalhais in the 32nd minute of play. SC Braga's Antonio Adán proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save SC Braga from getting a goal against them. An unexpected shot in the 43rd minute by Thor Vennerdal got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The Caskinha Sport Clube players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SC Braga were winning 0-1.

SC Braga made a substitution. Jon-Egil Sætre replaced Gastão Veiga. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luiz Eduardo Tróia to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Alberto Malheiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Braga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Caskinha Sport Clube the free kick. Caskinha Sport Clube's Luiz Eduardo Tróia got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 75 minutes into the match, SC Braga's goal looked a bit too open when Denílson Barros came free, but Antonio Adán reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th minute Iván Zamorano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antonio Adán saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iván Zamorano in the 84th minute of play forced SC Braga's goalkeeper Antonio Adán to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90th minute, Iván Zamorano made a precise shot to the right of Antonio Adán. SC Braga's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After 97 played minutes Caskinha Sport Clube got a freekick which was hit by Olavo Terra.
