Spectators: 7547 (Terracing: 5662, Seating: 1735, VIP seats: 150) Jason Duffus started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Robbie McLeish was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jeff Clemons showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 4 minute of play. The audience was convinced that Jason Duffus's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Isidro Humphries was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. In the 7th match minute, River tu grato nombre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Shayne Lovett to maneuver through the defense. In the 8th minute Grant McCay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isidro Humphries saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 10 minutes into the match, Smiddy Celts's Jason Duffus sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Isidro Humphries narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Smiddy Celts's David Connolly got a free kick in the 10th minute. After some careless play in the River tu grato nombre defense, Shaun McLergain kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Isidro Humphries. The River tu grato nombre fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Isidro Humphries should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Smiddy Celts booed when River tu grato nombre was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Archie Maddox didn't get a good kick on the ball. Isidro Humphries showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tommy Coutts in the 17th minute of the match. 22 minutes into the game, Smiddy Celts's Grant McCay nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Isidro Humphries made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. In the 27th minute, Jeff Clemons hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Robbie McLeish made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Jeff Clemons sent off a good shot on target. In the 33rd minute Shaun McLergain shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isidro Humphries saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the River tu grato nombre defense, Grant McCay kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Isidro Humphries. Grant McCay took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Isidro Humphries. Isidro Humphries dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-5. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-5 lead.

Isidro Humphries made an important save on a dangerous shot by Grant McCay in the 51st minute. Robbie McLeish took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeff Clemons, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Taylor Grieve hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. Robbie McLeish showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeff Clemons in the 61st minute of the match. River tu grato nombre were awarded a corner in the 62th minute after Smiddy Celts's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Archie Maddox took the corner. The corner ended in Archie Maddox almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Smiddy Celts's Robbie McLeish did a great save. After 70 played minutes River tu grato nombre got a freekick which was hit by Alfred Gozdowski. Isidro Humphries made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tommy Coutts in the 85th minute. Grant McCay scored 1-7 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Isidro Humphries, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Smiddy Celts had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
