Eliézer Recife showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristo Lorencio in the 10th minute of the match. In the 17th minute of the match, Jardel Rosado tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Modesto Olentzaro saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Modesto Olentzaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jardel Rosado in the 17th minute of play. Eliézer Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hilario Mikeldi, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 28th minute, Natalio Nabar ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eliézer Recife was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Eliézer Recife showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Omar Canor, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Modesto Olentzaro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Otávio Loureiro in the 35th minute of play. The supporters of Uruguaiana booed when El Retorno de Palermo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonel Bernad didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eurico Lima hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. In the 47th match minute, Uruguaiana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valdo Hoffmann to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wágner Reis was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dráusio Quirino during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 56th match minute, Uruguaiana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dráusio Quirino to maneuver through the defense. In the 68th minute, Durval da Silveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Uruguaiana made a substitution. Váldson Maranhense replaced Remo Ferreira. Durval da Silveira kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Modesto Olentzaro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aníbal Varela's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. 81 minutes into the match, Aníbal Varela had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Modesto Olentzaro. El Retorno de Palermo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Aníbal Varela was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Natalio Nabar scored 2-4 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eliézer Recife, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The El Retorno de Palermo supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing El Retorno de Palermo would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
