But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fernandinho de Godoi couldn't finish the play. The Belo Academy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paulo Renato Dracena should have stopped the shot. After 33 played minutes Belo Academy got a freekick which was hit by Jeferson Proença. After a defensive mix-up in Wolf's zone, Bernardinho Leão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmundo Catarinense came out of the goal and Bernardinho Leão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
