After 38 minutes, Enekoitz Soraiz mouthed his way into the referee's book. Jean-Marie Pfaff was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 84 minutes into the match, Elvio Blea dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jean-Marie Pfaff, 2-6. Brujas KV's Jean-Marie Pfaff played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xalbador Valluerca in the 86th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Xalbador Valluerca got free with Jean-Marie Pfaff in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
