Sonny Alén showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Podador Raheiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 48th minute Marcus Edström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sonny Alén saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Raimundo Tupper was substituted for Marcus Edström. After a rather tough play, Club Deportes Santa Cruz's Gilberto Sandoval got a free kick in the 55th minute. Silvio Navia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Sonny Alén made a huge save. Trayko Gradinarski in the 60thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Sonny Alén, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. La Cosa Nostra's Sonny Alén played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Raimundo Tupper in the 60th minute of play. In the 62nd match minute, Club Deportes Santa Cruz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hüseyin Rahmi Toper to maneuver through the defense. When the match clock showed 95 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Elias Millrick sped through Club Deportes Santa Cruz's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ilkka Markkula. When Raimundo Tupper came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Club Deportes Santa Cruz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raimundo Tupper couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. La Cosa Nostra had won after a very even match.
