In the 6th minute Paulinho Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pascual Acosta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de América's Denis Mon got a free kick in the 8th minute. JFSP's Moisés Novaes proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save JFSP from getting a goal against them. Moisés Novaes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ezequiel Luke went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edinson Gentenaar in the 19th minute of play forced Estudiantes de América's goalkeeper Pascual Acosta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de América's goal looked a bit too open when Horácio Souto came free, but Pascual Acosta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ildefonso Balesio's late challenge caught a JFSP's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ildefonso Balesio helped the player get up and apologised. Pascual Acosta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edinson Gentenaar, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Paulinho Batista struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Pascual Acosta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for JFSP. When Paulinho Batista came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the JFSP fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulinho Batista couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The supporters of Estudiantes de América booed when JFSP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gino Camargo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Estudiantes de América made a substitution. Melchor Evarado replaced Ildefonso Balesio. Estudiantes de América's Pascual Acosta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Horácio Souto in the 70th minute of play. Edinson Gentenaar's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 71stth minute, Pascual Acosta skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Moisés Novaes showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Estudiantes de América's Flavio Nuñez got a free kick in the 79th minute. Edinson Gentenaars short, quick shot in the 87thth minute got Pascual Acosta to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Pascual Acosta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edinson Gentenaar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
