The tension between the Uruguaiana and the Progresul Pitesti players grew even worse after the yellow card. When Remo Ferreira fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Uruguaiana's protests and gave Remo Ferreira a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Progresul Pitesti booed when Uruguaiana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Remo Ferreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 59 played minutes Uruguaiana got a freekick which was hit by Eurico Lima. Horia Caranică kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Uruguaiana's Aníbal Varela got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 78th minute, Horia Caranică left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Progresul Pitesti fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Tiaguinho Monteiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aristide Cordescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bruno Botelho hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Nistor Ghelmegean received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Tiaguinho Monteiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Sebastião Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
