Liga de Quito's Tomas Pando proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 2nd minute of the match, managed to save Liga de Quito from getting a goal against them. After having played for 4 minutes, Nelsinho Ceresso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nitra FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelsinho Ceresso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nelsinho Ceressos short, quick shot in the 7thth minute got Tomas Pando to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Nitra FC's Nelson Toledo got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 13 minutes into the match, Liga de Quito's goalkeeper Tomas Pando had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nelsinho Ceresso. Zézinho Machado kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. A collision led to Liga de Quito getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Ataulfo Soberon hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Liga de Quito's Checa Cerezo got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Liga de Quito's Tomas Pando played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelson Toledo in the 35th minute of play. In the 37th minute, Checa Cerezo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Nitra FC booed when Liga de Quito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vilson Valls didn't get a good kick on the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nelsinho Ceresso to strike the kick off in the second half. Tomas Pando showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luís Paulo das Neves, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Tomas Pando made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelsinho Ceresso in the 59th minute of play. Luis Andres hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. When Liga de Quito's Viviano Basurto in the 68th minute got a chance for a shot 68th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Nitra FC's goalie prevented a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Liga de Quito's zone, Nelsinho Ceresso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tomas Pando came out of the goal and Nelsinho Ceresso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Viviano Basurto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 83 minutes into the match, Liga de Quito's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Ceresso came free, but Tomas Pando reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nelsinho Ceresso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Tomas Pando tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cauã Guedes came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Liga de Quito's Viviano Basurto. But to his dismay, Viviano Basurto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Cauã Guedes acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 90th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Ataulfo Soberon. When Nelson Toledo came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Nitra FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nelson Toledo couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vilson Valls during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 93rd match minute, Liga de Quito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vilson Valls to maneuver through the defense. Ataulfo Soberon's late challenge caught a Nitra FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ataulfo Soberon helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Liga de Quito fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 94th minute. Penalty! Nitra FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
